Let's see...what's happening? We here in this house don't lead very exciting lives but we are planning a trip to see Aunt Rose, the Paters and Uncle John up in Yankee land at the end of the month.
My art class is almost over. I'm very proud of my students. They are progressing nicely and working very hard. Of course, when the class is over, I'm whipped. I usually have to go home and take a nap. But I'm very glad I'm teaching.
Al is golfing whenever he gets a chance. It seems his golfing buddies are dropping like flies as some of them anyway are always having surgery for one thing and another. Currently his best pal had gall bladder surgery and now has complications and has been laid low for a couple of weeks. Al is missing him.
Aunt Rose is going to have some lazer surgery on her eyes next week. We'll be visiting her the end of the month and are hoping that all goes well with that. She has glacoma and will need surgery to relieve the pressure on both eyes, but they only do the surgery one eye at a time...sort of like cataract surgery.
After visiting with her for a couple of days...we'll visit Uncle John. He is still very sad over Jennifer's death. Her birthday was last Sunday and when I called him the day before...he was very down. (Me, too.) Joan did a nice thing for me...she took me out to lunch and made a hard day a little easier for me. I believe I have nice children.
When I hear from some of my friends and how their adult children treat them...I am happy to say that's not the case with my kids.
Speaking of kids...I hope J-L and Anton (the two teenagers) have found something productive to do this summer. Now that they have aged out of summer camp...they can get bogged down in front of the computer. That's not just them, it's all kids their age...they are too old for camp, but too young to get jobs.
I have been weeding and weeding and weeding my flowers. It seems I get one bed done and it's time to start all over again. The lilies are beautiful this time of year although we haven't had much rain. This a.m. I went out early to water and a few hours later we got a downpour. I guess it's like washing the car...that usually insures a rain later in the day.
I have to go exercise at some point today. It's too hot outside although the rain cooled us down to mid 80s instead of mid 90s. We've had awful hot humid days this whole month. Nashville hosted CMA festivities last week and I felt sorry for our many visitors as they slouged from venue to venue downtown. Everyone of them had a cowboy hat on. I think they think that's the style in Nashville. It's only the style for some country singers. I said I was glad they were wearing hats as that probably prevented some heat related incidents. Then of course, they was Bonnaroo. Lots of heat there, too. I think they had 1 death this year. Other years there have been more.
We got some happy news a couple of weeks ago. The Paters are coming for Christmas. As the Florida Steinmetz are visiting at Thanksgiving this year...it all worked out perfectly. If everyone decided to come at once, we've have to have the kids camp out in the downstairs den. That might be fun, too.
Guess this is it for today. Till next time
